Statement of purpose (Sample 1)
I, tatiparthy seshagiri rao, did my four year Bachelor of Technology program of Computer Science and Engineering program in the Kakatiya university warangal. My career objectives lie in the pursuance of research and academics in theoretical computer science - especially in mathematical logic, automated theorem proving, program correctness and semantics of programming languages. I believe that graduate studies leading to a PhD through research work of quality in these fields are a necessary step towards my goal.
The undergraduate courses of the CSE department have given me a comprehensive exposure to all the core fields of computer science and mathematics. Man's attempts at mathematically modeling objects of study and then using these models to reason, predict, draw new meanings and interpretations have always fascinated me. Hence, in course of my studies I've come to realize that I wish to pursue research and academics in the above mentioned areas of theoretical computer science. These areas, I believe are rapidly developing and offer great scope to one who is confident of producing fruitful work and coming up with creative ideas.
My interest in theoretical computer science has inspired me to carry out research and implementation in this subject, as can be seen from my attached resume. Simultaneously, I have kept myself abreast with the recent trends in research through literature surveys during projects, related to courses and otherwise. I have availed of every opportunity to learn more about my areas of interest. I have enrolled for a number of relevant courses offered by the computer science, mathematics and humanities departments. My senior thesis has given me a chance to explore these areas in greater depth (details in resume).All these activities have gone a long way towards making my background very strong in my areas of interest.
This course has a stress on research-oriented study, flexibility and closer Professor-student relationships. I think that having such a sound academic environment at a reputed University such as Rostock, with the work of a small group of teachers serving as a model, I will be able to attain my true potential. Specifically I am keen to participate in the ongoing research activity at Rostock.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE (Sample 2)
Science has always been my fascination right from my childhood, and I was keen to continue my academic pursuit in this field to turn out my interests and curiosities into realities. I always been curios about medicine & its regulatory aspects which attracted me towards Pharmacy Aurangabad, affiliated to "Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University" Aurangabad.
During my school I participated in several science projects and secured 1 st prize in science festival in 9th standard organized by my school. My professional journey started with my first year of B.Pharmacy at YASH in my course major subjects I studied was PHARAMACEUTICS; PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS; PHARMACEUTICAL (MED) CHEMISTRY. I always looked forward for my career in Quality assurance and pharmaceutical analysis during four years of my degree course. The major aim behind my aspiration toward subject is to develop good quality evaluation technique for medicine and health products to fulfill my aspiration. If admitted to your program, I will be among the most diligent students.
My final year thesis work is related to Pharmacology topics i.e. "Anti-Asthmatic Activity of Methanolic Extract Of leaves of Tamarindus indiaca Linn" Which is communicated to "international journal of Green Pharmacology" U.S.A, as a research paper. During my academics I attended several local and national conferences and presented two papers in local science expo in my college.
I have worked as a Trainee Q.A. Officer for one year in Red Cross formulations a local based pharmaceutical company, balancing my studies of final year of B.Pharmacy course and worked as a project of Development of Validation Techniques, supported by my seniors in company. During my work duration I learned how to manage my time wisely and improved my Laboratory working skills.
Apart from academics I also have interest in extracurricular activities; I have been elected as Cultural Secretary of student council of Yash institute of Pharmacy during 2008-09 and arrange d several cultural activities including Annual social Gathering of my college.
I studied whole of my education in India and never had any international exposure. So I think Germany is suitable country for my further studies. Where lots of exposure to international culture and opportunities available in Germany are quite high. If chances given me to study at your premises I would like to learn about new techniques in analysis with latest technologies and improve my professional skills.

Statement of Purpose (Sample 3)
The course of history shows that a strong, determined and sincere individual like Mahatma Gandhi and Abraham Lincoln swayed the destiny of mankind overcoming all odds. I always loved challenges and believed in taking the less trodden path and making a niche for me in a novel field with grit and determination as did my inspirational idols. This attitude towards life made me take a decision to pursue my undergraduate course in Mechanical and to further it with Masters in computational engineering.
My decision for opting a career in Mechanical Engineering came from the inspiration of my own childhood experiences. Being a engineer, my maternal uncle introduced me to the lathe machine, it was a great fascination and source of inspiration. My uncle felt that there existed always, a need to develop and innovate technology, with an aim to improve. These factors fascinated me to the field of machines and propelled me to study Mechanical engineering in my undergraduate education. My critical attitude, coupled with sheer interest in this field has made me blossom with a genuine scientific temper.
My analytical inclination towards my education, made me to select Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in my majors in the High school education. It is this approach that was my backbone in securing a top 10% place in a pool of two lakh examinees in the entrance examination for admission in to Engineering. As a result I got an opportunity to pursue my undergraduate education in JNTU Hyderabad, a premier institution that offers the best education in Mechanical Engineering in our state.
During my period of four years of undergraduate education, I was exposed to a plethora of interdisciplinary subjects of Mechanical Engineering , out of which I was inclined to the pithy subject of Simulation and fluid mechanics. It was the interest in this subject that I honed up my skills with subtle craftsmanship. This factor is also responsible for immense interest in Engineering Graphics through which I grew up with profound technical drawing skills and topped this subject.
As an enthusiastic student, ready to take up any job, in any field assigned, I was not restricted to my books and academics. I played a key role in the triumph of our department in various sports held in our college. To be specific, my unmitigating agility and skills can best be examined in Cricket, Badminton and Volleyball. My oratory skills, studded with metaphors made me an effective anchor in many cultural programs and helped me to excel in elocution and extemporary competitions. My congenital skills in singing and acting made me to play several roles and take part in singing competitions held in the college campus. My leadership and organizing skills are evident from various seminars, technical and cultural programs in which I was a key member of the organizing committee.
I was introduced to your esteemed university through my own desire to learn more about my research field i.e Mathematical modeling and simulation. when I was referring to the publications of the various faculty members of your university for my project work. Browsing through the University's web pages, I was extremely impressed by the excellent and innovative research supported by your university. On further perusal of the department website, I found that the research interests of the faculty members in the Image processing and robotics division match closely with those of mine. I feel confident that the renowned faculty combined with the world-class research facilities at your university will surely enable me to realize my research objectives. My immediate objective is to pursue Master of Science program at your university, which I would leverage to a challenging career in reputed organization. It is my dream to be involved in a research oriented Master Program so as to understand the subjects thoroughly under the guidance of an excellent faculty.
Pharmacy has been in my mind from earlier days and a consistent academic performance in the science subjects is an ample proof of my in-depth understanding of the subjects. I have always been interested in Bio-Chemical Sciences. My interest and propensity towards Pharmaceutical Sciences encouraged me to perform various classroom level projects. I maintained a consistent record of being a top student in the class throughout my schooling and secured a remarkable 65% in 10 th standard conducted by the State Board of Secondary Education, India.
The school and colleges in which I studied have molded me into a disciplined and obedient individual. Right from my childhood, I have been always fascinated by various Bio-chemical sciences. As the technology progressed in the past few years, my interest in Pharmacy grew further in apogee level. This was one of the reasons for selecting Pharmacy as my Diploma and undergraduate course. My strong determination to pursue my education in pharmacy has led me to one of the top colleges in the state among tough competition.
Aiming to pursue my career as Pharmacy, I worked hard in Pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy and pharmaceutical chemistry and secured 77% marks in D-pharmacy. I completed my higher education from Smt. Sarojini Ramulamma College of pharmacy, which is one of the top colleges in my state. As already stated, the choice of Pharmaceutical science was because of my interest in the subject. The field of Pharmacy is huge and versatile with numerous research opportunities. So I want to be a part of this field and explore new possibilities.
During my Three years of bridge course at the Vikas college of B-pharmacy, subjects like Pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry have developed my interest further in the field. I have a consistent record of being among the top 10 students and secured 72% aggregate marks. Under the guidance of excellent faculty members like Head of the department prof. Anbazhagan, Asst.prof. Y.Kiran Kumar, Prof. T. Srinivas Rao, Prof. Venkateshwar Rao, I was able to delve deep into the concepts of the course. I have also delivered seminars on topics like Anti-convulsion drugs.
When I worked in Government hospital I have seen how to DISPENCE THE DRUGS for all kinds of patients, and understood that how the drugs play a major role in the diagnosing and treatment of several types of diseases like gastric ulcers, epilepsy, migraine, and effectiveness of drugs in emergency cases. This enthused me to research further into the applications and possible modalities of effectiveness in pharmacy where I worked for considerable period of time. I have participated in 57 th Indian Pharmeutical Congress-2005. Which was conducted at Hyderabad as National level seminars on the topic called DRUG DISCOVERY RESEARCH and acquired some sort of knowledge on it. As I am Interested in sports and games I have participated and received certificates on cricket, caroms and many more.
In today's world, knowledge of computers & its languages is equally important. I have a good exposure to C & C++, Into computers, Ms-Dos, Windows, Ms-Word, Ms-Excel, FoxPro and Internet. I have also worked upon developing my personality like enhancing communication and literal skills. I am a soft spoken person and of a very accommodating nature. I get adjusted to new places and environments very quickly.
An eminent faculty, excellent research facilities, pleasant university ambience and a balanced academic program which are very much conducive to the fields of my interest, I feel your university is the right place to embark upon an academic career.
